Injuries caused by violence around Italian football stadiums have dropped by 80 percent since last season after tough new regulations were introduced, officials said on Thursday. A meeting between the police chief and the heads of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the league agreed the aim must be to tone down the regulations by the end of the year.
Tight controls for supporters were brought in following revulsion at the death of a policeman during riots outside Catania's Serie A derby with Palermo in February.
