Sébastien Squillaci unrepentant after forcing transfer to Arsenal

"If a French player receives an offer from Arsène Wenger, it's practically impossible to turn down," he said. "It was a sensational offer for me and I was happy Sevilla let me go. It was a difficult situation but I knew I had to take this chance. I knew if I played against Braga then I would not have been able to play for Arsenal in the Champions League."

Surely being loaned again to the championship is stagnation for Lansbury?

He’s done his year in the championship now, isn’t it time for him to try his luck in a top tier league?

Maybe premiership teams would be hard to break in to, but surely he’s good enough to try the top leagues in France or Germany like Nordveit did?
if he is sent to the championship again, I seriously doubt he will make it at Arsenal.

Your points are valid. I suppose he's thinking he's still only 19 and isn't ready to give up on Arsenal yet. The Championship isn't necessarily a massive step down, and although he did well at Watford last year, it wasn't good enough to get looks from a Premier League side for this year. In terms of going to Europe, I can only guess that since he's English he wants to stay in England and try and prove himself.

He was born in London and has been at Arsenal since he was nine so it's gotta be pretty tough to give up on the club.
