It is the dastardly new regulation that could leave big-name footballers out in the cold. It is the cause of panic across the Premier League. Or, more prosaically, it really shouldn't be. The Premier League's new 25-man squad rule comes into effect this season. On September 1, each of the 20 clubs will have to designate 25 players who are eligible for matches before the January transfer window.
