Armas was a great player and we'll miss him. He was as good a midfield destroyer as this country has ever produced; his work rate was fantastic, his tackling ferocious and his distribution was vastly underrated, especially in short passing efficiency. It's truly a shame that the timing of his serious injuries prevented him from performing on the bigger stages of the Olympics and World Cup. His on the field leadership was always great, though it sometimes caused him to try to do more than he was capable of (playmaking from the middle, longer passing in the final third of the field, taking free kicks). One of the Fire greats and a guy who I'd start at DM for the all time MLS squad.
He will be missed. You're right about his injuries -- he was SO unlucky in their timing. The U.S. team could have used him a few times on the international stage. Regardless, this guy was class. He oozed it. Well played, Chris!
