Anyone recall the host of glowing articles written in the last year during Villareal's Champions League run last year and during the run-up to the World Cup about how Riqulme was a genius, last of a dying breed, a national treasure for Argenina and Spain, a natual leader who only needs to be understood, etc? Where did it all go wrong? What the hell happened? How is it that any coach can be allowed by management to alientate the lychpin of the team, lauded last year as the best player in Spain? Idiotic.

Yes, it's absurd. How could we forget the love-fest the pundits had with him last year. We all saw how fantastic he was in their CL run and then with the Argies in Germany. He's an amazing player and has made Villareal what they are today. And now without him they are sinking like a Yellow Submarine...
