It's Hump Day. And it's not a good one. The Bradford Fire was awful. It would now appear that it was much worse than we thought or could ever imagine. This is incredibly sad.
Apologies for beginning on that dour note, but it couldn't be avoided. There were matches yesterday. The Madrid Derby ended goalless, and Juventus edged Monaco (Pirlo!!). Barney Ronay took the rare trip to Spain and enjoyed the match at the Estadio Vicente Calderón. Here is his report. Graham Hunter also wrote about it. Read about it here. As for Juventus? James Horncastle says they got lucky.
The United States play tonight. It's only a friendly, but the opponent is Mexico, and you know what that means. It's down in San Antone. Here's a preview. You can catch all the action on your television at 9:00 p.m. EDT on Fox Sport 1.
Jürgen Klopp, everyone's favorite photo-bomber, has announced that he'll leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. We would expect that he'll land very soon at a very big club. He's a good gaffer.
Serhiy Rebrov. Remember that guy? Premier League bust, for sure. Not to worry. He's doing fine. As Jonathan Wilson reports, he's got Dynamo Kiev kicking some major ass at the moment.
OK, we've gotta split. Today's matches are PSG vs. Barcelona and Porto vs. Bayern Munich.
Smell you later.
Onward!!
