Since I remember and probably even much longer there was a "soccer-poker" going on in Poland (there is even a comedy movie with that title - I have it with english subtitles if you are interested). However bad the top corruption is it cannot make the already mediocre team much worse anyways! (except for abundant good goalies who can prevent from loosing too many games but can't win a single one...)
