SSN is a digest of the day's soccer/football/futbol articles with a focus on the top European leagues and the United States National Team. Below, you’ll find links to articles and video, as well as additional features and commentary. We locate the top news of the day so you can stay updated with ease.
The message ‘Il calcio è un divertimento,’ (football is entertainment), has been added to promote fair play and replaces the club’s previous shirt sponsor Toyota for the upcoming season.
So does this mean that they couldn't sell the sponsorship? Also our friends at the Sportreview seemed to have overlooked the obvious with this one:
"Fiorentina are keen to add depth to their squad in order to continue their progress in the Champions League. Last season they were knocked out in the second round by eventual runners-up Bayern Munich."
They were also knocked out of the Champions League (and all of Europe for that matter) for 2010/11 by their finishing position of 11th. They also lost their manager to the national team. Prandrelli was the alpha and omega of everything good in their resurgence, this team is screwed.
I tried to find more info on this but this was the only article I could locate. I would expect we'll learn more before too long. Perhaps La Viola didn't want to be linked to unexpected acceleration...
