Interestingly the England players say they were called 'Monkeys'. In German the general 'friendly' insult for an Englishman is 'Inselaffe', which means 'Island Monkey'. It's used irrespective of race, sex, etc. This is their version of 'Kraut' [as in... "unfortunately my mad girlfriend is a Kraut", or "where's my dinner, Kraut"].
Could this explain things? I mean, there's not even a hint of racism in the past 100 yrs of German history.
