Norman Hubbard: Wenger's No.1 Priority

Brian Clough once said that a goalkeeper could be worth 15 points in a season. If, like many of Clough's comments, it contained an element of hyperbole, Peter Shilton came close to justifying it during his days at Nottingham Forest. So did Manchester United's Peter Schmeichel, especially in the 1995-96 season.

None now may be worth more than five, but that is still substantial; the league table would look altogether healthier for Wenger with an extra few points, especially if they had come at the expense of rivals.
