It was a foolish and novice mistake to play an Vieira -- he was obviously not match fit. In fact, when was the last time he wasn't struggling with injury or trying to return from injury? Meanwhile, playing Giggs was a no-brainer. He's having a fantastic year and his groin/hamstring issues appear to be behind him.
