Steve Davis: U.S. stars need to return home

A few intrepid American souls have exported their soccer talents majestically. Fellows like Kasey Keller, Brian McBride and others went abroad and soared, soon living large and making out quite well, thank you very much.

Update: According to The BBC, according to The Sun, Schalke failed in a last-minute attempt to bring DeMarcus to the Bundesliga. I could not find anything about it in The Sun. -Sanford

Oh wait. What I mean to say was that I completely disagree with this article. Yes, DaMarcus could do better at another club but he's better off in Europe. And if he comes back in a sweetheart deal with the Galaxy I'll kick Dave Beckham in the sarong. EJ is going to disappoint wherever he plays but he should give Cardiff more time. Convey... Overrated. I could give a crap.

I think he can still kick ass in a European league. The SPL is not the place for him -- Germany or Spain would be much better. Agreed on Convey and EJ. Neither of those guys should be starting for the national team.
