MLS Eastern Conference Final: Crew Comeback Puts Out Fire

Despite the Crew fans' “traitor” chants, former Crew forward Brian McBride did his best to put his old team away by giving the Fire an early 1-0 advantage. But galvanized by their first playoff action in six years, the Crew rebounded to score twice and reach the MLS Cup final.

Columbus 2 - 1 Chicago

All I can say is that we sucked in the second half and got what we deserved. No answer for GBS, they chose to play him zone rather than man marking and he punished us. Eddie Gavin had the run of the flank for the whole half and got the winner. Chris Rolfe was too far from goal to make a difference, Justin Mapp had a lot of space but didn't use it to well and Brandon Prideaux played his worst game in our uniform, thanks mostly to Robbie Rodgers running him ragged. Chad Marhsall is really ugly but he's an impressive player. I can't see this team making it this far next year, especially with the expected losses on the back line. Sucks.

It was a sad scene but I was pleased to be able to watch the game in its entirety, although the final couple of minutes got a bit hazy as I exceeded a safe level of red wine (malbec) intake.

For once the ESPN2 HD looked pretty decent.

Screw The Crew.
