Goal.commentary: The Time Is Right For Donovan’s Return To Europe

With this week's reports that German giants Bayern Munich are sniffing around, Goal.com's Seth Vertelney urges LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan to go abroad again.

Perhaps Lando is finally ready...

The thing that keeps not getting mentioned in any of this Landotalk is that LA can't keep him next year unless they can get another rule change from MLS. He's signed for nearly a million a year, which is DP money. Of course there's only one DP per team, unless that team can trade for another team's DP slot. MLS has given the Galaxy special dispensation (SHOCKING!) for the last two seasons so that they could pay Goldenballs and Lando but that's about to end, so either Lando goes abroad, the league changes the rules again, the Gals trade some unknown (and non-existent) quantity for some other team's DP slot or Lando fucks off to Dallas or wherever. I vote for the last option.

I'd actually like to see him do well in Europe. I think he is best suited for La Liga -- he could flourish there.
