This was supposed to be a triumphant season for Alexi Lalas' "Jewel of MLS"; a full season of Beckham and Landon Donovan, lead to a title by super-coach Ruud Gullit, shorn of his jheri curl and ego after being cut down to size at Newcastle by the British press, Alan Shearer and an unnamed Italian restaurant waitress. Unsurprisingly the squad was hobbled by large contracts handed out to Goldenballs, Lando and Carlos Ruiz and found itself extraordinarily thin on the back line. After some embarrassingly public squabbling about the quality of the roster and Gullit's frustrations with the salary cap, both the President and Head Coach are
out on their asses. Shocking but hardly surprising. We'll see if interim coach Cobi Jones can piece together the rest of their season but it's hard to see them making the playoffs at this point.

Oh, Bobbie. You must be love seeing your beloved AssGalaxy in turmoil. I wonder where Lalas will turn up next? Maybe he's in line to replace Big Phil at Chelsea after they shit the bed by only winning two trophies (including the Carling Cup) this coming season...
Nah, he's more of an executive type. He'll be replacing Peter Kenyon.
Prediction: Chelsea win the quadruple but without enough "style" to suit the Russian mafia, Phil is sacked, in comes Lalas to save the day...
