Flaws in MLS' transfer setup need to be remedied

I fully agree. I think that MLS has made enough changes in the past year and a half to payroll and roster rules to get serious about signing mid-level players from foreign leagues, and we've seen great results from clubs like DC, KC and Columbus in scouting and signing these sorts of players without needing to use the DP rules. MLS has pretty much fixed the transfer situation on the inbound end, but outbound is still pretty hosed and probably will continue to be so until the league owned player contract situation is changed. I'm no Twellman fan but I have to feel for him on this one; in many ways he reminds me of Brian McBride in MLS, though he scores more. He's the sort of player who could greatly improve by playing in the Championship. He'll never be more than the player he is now as long as he's playing over here.
