Now that the Zidane film is coming out, Ernst Bouwes writes on the German art film that captured a British legend at the peak of his powers. For a review of the Zidane film, see Richard Williams' post from earlier today...

Morientes happy to be out of English football

Fernando says:

"I didn't like the physical nature of the game in England or the referees who let more things go, and who blow for fewer fouls than they do here," Morientes added.

"A striker isn't protected from rival defences there, and they gave me a really hard time."

Cesc Fabregas = Monchichi?

The Wife says so but I'm not convinced. Decide for yourself...

Xabi Alonso's Goal vs. Newcastle

He's only been in the EPL a couple of years but it seems like he's already scored a handful of goals like this. When I saw Spain at the World Cup, the first thing that struck me about Alonso was how tall he is. I was close enough to the pitch to really get a sense of his size. He's not one of those diminutive middies like Cesc or Riquelme or Steed. He's much bigger and has a greater stature. So yeah, this is a great strike. Thanks to soccerweblog for the vid. -Sanford

Lehman's save from Ole Gunnar's shot

This is about as good as it gets. I thought for sure the Baby-Faced Assassin had nicked a point for the Red Devils but Crazy Jens saved the day... -Sanford
